District Events - History Print
A large part of what makes up the Leadership and Fellowship aspects of CKI is the number of events that are held each year for members to gather and engage each other in ways that further the mission and vision of CKI.

Kampout

Kampout was the only purely social event in the Ohio District. The idea for this event was for Circle Kers to be able to get together in the summer for some fun. The very last Kampout was held in June of 1995 at the Wooster Outdoor Center in Perrysville, Ohio. The final Kampout chair was Jamie Knapp from the University of Dayton and the theme for the event was Kampout - It’s a Zoo, 30 members from 11 clubs came to the final Kampout. This event was discontinued in favor of a new event called Midwest K-Fest.

Midwest K-Fest (MWKF)

At the 1995 International Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, the Governors and Administrators of the Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan Districts met to come up with a new summer event. This event would replace Ohio’s Kampout and Indiana’s Pig Roast, which were summer District events that were not having big turnouts. They decided on a summer leadership development conference which would be called Midwest K-Fest. The three Districts decided to put the event on a rotation system starting with Ohio in 1996, Indiana in 1997, and Michigan in 1998, with the pattern repeating into the future.
